TAT: WWE Vengeance 2004 Predictions

Hey TATfans and welcome to another lyrically dextrous article written by your own OG, Boyo. I must admit, my lavish self-confidence has arisen from my rather accurate Great American Bash foresight so here’s hoping for another Nostradamus-esque article. Or not…

Anyway, Vengeance is around the corner and rather like last month’s/week’s Great American Bash we have a mediocre card that’s been thrown together a week before the PPV begins. In other words, we have some decent looking matches that we haven’t really got excited about.

Chris Benoit is defending his fabulous reign as Heavyweight Champion against Triple H. I am expecting a classic face vs heel match-up here. Classic moves, classic psychology, under twenty minutes long, and Benoit to retain. Trips has got Summerslam pencilled in as “Waist Decorating, 10pm”: this I am sure about.

Randal Orton is putting up his Intercontinental belt on the line against the ever-increasing tweener known as Edge. This Canuck just cannot do “face”, can he? I like him though, and am looking forward to this match. Both guys are great athletes and top wrestlers although, again, I expect Orton to retain his belt. How long is the record for holding the Intercontinental belt anyway? I ask because I think Randal will break this.

The walking, talking, living soap-opera that is Eugene is teaming up with a rather unimpressed Ric Flair in an attempt to snatch the tag belts off of La Resistance. We can’t have no belts change hands, can we? In what may turn out to be a plot-twist of “Sixth Sense” proportions I think Flair and Eugene will pick up the win, Evolution will get the belts and then screw Eugene out of his belt, claiming that General Managers are not allowed to hold titles. You heard it here first…

Kane and Matthew Hardy got nose-to-nose in a no contraception – sorry…no DQ match-up in a potentially explosive spot-fest to answer the eternal macho question: who exactly is the daddy? I think Hardy will ultimately lose because Kane will knock him out, to be perfectly honest.

Batista is the only member of Evolution remaining so he goes into what I think to be the “Unexpected Classic” match, against plucky Chris Jericho. I am looking foward to another decent heel vs face encounter, but this match, I feel, is more about marking Batista’s progress rather then building any great feuds.

Is this the entire card? Maybe, but maybe not. Expect a Women’s title defence to be thrown in and perhaps one other little match to whet our appetites.

Thanks for reading.
