ASW: All Star Grapplevine – 5th December

ALL STAR GRAPPLEVINE presented by RUSSELL PLUMMER
LATEST UPDATE – DECEMBER 5th 2005

GANGREL RETURNING TO LAUNCH NORTH AMERICAN TEAM CHALLENGE
Team event action will be the headline attraction in All Star’s opening bills of 2006 with exciting squads from home and overseas forming-up to battle it out in a series of explosive confrontations starting as early as a New Year curtain raising afternoon bill at Dartford’s Orchard Theatre on Sunday January 15th. The series is set to run all through the Spring period with the most formidable threat coming from a team of North American invaders headed by white shirted ring vampire Gangrel.

Already the appetite of fans for this form of competition has been whetted by the All Star versus FWA showdown at Croydon in November and what is fast becoming a worldwide trend is mirrored from the United States by the WWE’s on-going Raw versus Smackdown  skirmishes. For All Star’s 2006 events sabre toothed Gangrel will be accompanied by his wife, ladies legends title holder Luna, plus towering globetrotter Brodie Steele, ‘Brooklyn Brawler’ Julio Torres, the ever aggressive Canadian Shadow and, surprise, surprise, world number one Joe Legend.

The Pan Pacific title holder headed All Star’s line-up against the FWA at Croydon but Gangrel insists that in future the charismatic Toronto-born star will definitely be lining-up with his fellow North Americans for clashes that will have a format varying from venue to venue and ranging from solo matchings to triple threat events and five or six-a-side elimination tags or mixed team contests.

Already home teams are beginning to take shape with Robbie Brookside set to lead a Liverpool challenge with support from Frankie Sloan, Miss Lisa Fury, plus Domino and Extreme Dean Allmark who are also now Merseyside residents. Not to be left out, James Mason is lining-up a Potteries formation along with Kid Cool, Mikey Whiplash, Justin Starr and ‘hell in boots’ herself, Klondyke Kate.

Alex Shane has made it clear his FWA stars including anarchist Doug Williams, Jonny Storm, Hade Vansen, Nikita and Jody Fleisch are anxious to make their mark and there’s now talk of ‘Highlander’ Drew McDonald forming a team of champions including heavy middleweight kingpin Robbie Dynamite and tag title holders the UK Dream Team. We’ll keep you informed with news of the New Year’s opening team event line-ups in the next Grapplevine update immediately after Christmas.

YOUR CHANCE TO VOTE FOR ALL STAR’S WRESTLERS OF THE YEAR!
After many requests from fans, All Star is having its own popularity poll and your votes are requested for our 2005 …
‘Wrestler of the Year,’
‘Best Newcomer’ and the
‘Match of the Year.’

We are limiting the voting to just three categories to avoid clashing with longer established and wider ranging website polls and the three All Star winners will be introduced to receive their awards during the opening spectacular of 2006 at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon, on Tuesday January 17th.

In each category there are plenty of potential nominees with home stars Robbie  Brookside,  James Mason, Drew McDonald, Doug Williams, the fearless Flatliner and international visitors including Joe Legend and Canada’s T.J.Wilson all likely to be in the running.  The newcomer category could be a shoot out between emerging heavyweights like Steve Sonic, Domino or ’Playboy’ Johnny Midnight, or lighter newer discoveries such as the West Country’s Chris Andrews.

As for the year’s top match, a lot of people are still talking about Croydon’s June clash when Drew McDonald defeated Robbie Brookside to lift the British title, but the door is wide open and there can be votes for solo or tag matches, mixed team events and, of course, ladies action!

To cast your vote, go to the Contact Details page of this website, enter the category and wrestlers’ names and press submit! The polls close on Saturday December 31st!

COULD WRESTLING SOON BE COMING TO A VENUE NEAR YOU?
Look in the calendar section of this site for full details of All Star presentations in the opening months of 2006. Further dates are being added all the time but if you live in an area, perhaps in Scotland or Wales, that is not on the list and would like to see All Star come to town, just send an e-mail with details of possible venues to admin@bigtimewrestlinguk.com and we’ll certainly look into it.

USA SOON AS STEVE SONIC’S SUCCESS STORY CONTINUES
Fast rising star Steve Sonic figured in the WWE’s recent British tour events and expects to go to the United States to begin intensified training during April, after completing a Spring sequence of All Star appearances. Real name Steve Lewington, the Reading-born campaigner was able to get an idea of what’s in store when talking to Surrey’s Paul Birchall who was here to tag with Steve Regal during the WWE tour. Other British wrestlers including Robbie  Brookside and Thunder were drafted into the WWE security squad to help keep the waring Raw and Smackdown battlers apart.
