WWE: Latest Classic Figure & Saturday Night’s Main Event Ticket News

– Jakks Pacific announced that they had signed Stan Lane to do a Classic WWE Superstars action figure, so it appears there will be a Midnight Express set in the future, or perhaps The Fabulous Ones.

– Tickets for the WWE’s first Saturday Night’s Main Event taping since 1992 will go on sale on 2/11. The taping will be held on Saturday 3/18 at the Cobo Arena in Detroit and will air during primetime hours.

NBC aired 29 ninety minute Saturday Night Main Event specials between April 1985 and April 1991.

WWE also aired five primetime specials on NBC titled “The Main Event” between 1988 and 1991, which featured major angles including Andre the Giant dethroning then-WWE champion Hulk Hogan and the breakup of the Megapowers team of Hogan and Randy Savage, both scheduled to build to Wrestlemania PPVs.

After it’s run on NBC ended, there were two SNME specials on the FOX Network in 1992 before the concept was retired. The specials are returning now as part of the WWE’s corporate synergy with partner NBC Universal, which also owns the USA Network, which broadcasts Monday Night Raw.
