Week In Review #23

Welcome to the twenty-fourth edition of the WWE Week In Review. As you can see, the Week In Review has undergone a “facelift” of sorts. Thanks to Chriscare & Boyo for the suggestions. Feel free to contact me on TWO or Wrestling 101 anytime with comments, questions, and anything in between. Also, check out my blog on Wrestling101.com.

The 803’rd edition of RAW came to you from the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. Confirmed for the night was a special appearance (per the request of The Great Khali) by Johnny Knoxville. Also, in a rematch from last week Rey Mysterio would team with ECW Champion Matt Hardy to take on the monstrous team of Kane & Mark Henry. Cryme Tyme would also team up with Kelly Kelly to face The Miz, John Morrison, & Jillian.

Monday Night RAW

Good Week For: Batista (Disposed of Lumberjacks In His Match & Got Revenge On Jericho)
Bad Week For: Chris Jericho (Plans for Batista & Michaels Backfired & Lost To CM Punk)
It Will Be Interesting Next Week For: Batista & Jericho (To See What Will Happen 6 Nights Prior To Cyber Sunday)
Best Mic Work: Santino Marella

And In Other News…

-In a rematch from last week, Kane & Mark Henry defeated Rey Mysterio & ECW Champion Matt Hardy in tag team action. Kane & Rey Mysterio will face off at Cyber Sunday in one of three matches- Falls Count Anywhere, No Holds Barred, or 2-out-of-3 Falls, as voted on by the fans.
-Charlie Haas also made a special appearance as “Haas Hogan”, but The Haaster still lost to JBL.
-In the first of two Pick Your Poison Matches, Batista faced off with an opponent hand-picked by World Champion Chris Jericho- Shawn Michaels. Right before the match got underway, Jericho announced it would be a Lumberjack Match. Things would backfire on the champion as the Lumberjacks would rush the ring (ending the match) and get laid out by both Michaels & Batista.
-In 6-Person Tag Action, Cryme Tyme & Kelly Kelly defeated The Miz, John Morrison, & Jillian.
-Monday was a bad night for Johnny Knoxville and his pal, Chris Pontius. After being goaded into the ring by Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella, Knoxville made the mistake of referring to Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix as a man. Phoenix took exception by slapping Knoxville and powerslamming the Jackass star. After that, Hornswoggle made an appearance and hit the Tadpole Splash on Knoxville. Big Dick Johnson made a special appearance and had a disturbing dance-off with Chris Pontius, only for the returning Boogeyman to clothesline Pontius and fill his mouth with worms. After Knoxville recovered and got to his feet, The Great Khali appeared and put the Vise Grip on Knoxville, before laying him out with the Khali Bomb.
-In the main event of the evening, World Champion Chris Jericho had his opponent chosen by Batista and Batista selected former World Champion CM Punk. The Animal one-upped Jericho by naming himself the special referee for the contest. With a major assist, Punk was able to pin the champion in a non-title encounter.

It was announced on WWE.com on Tuesday afternoon that the WWE has come to terms on the release of RAW Superstar, Lance Cade.

The 123’rd ECW on Sci-Fi emanated from the Thomas & Mack Center at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, NV.

ECW

Good Week For: Mark Henry (Laid Out His Two Voting Opponents for Cyber Sunday)
Bad Week For: The Miz & John Morrison (Got Trumped by Cryme Tyme for the Second Night in a Row)

Best Mic Work: Matt Striker

And In Other News…

-Theodore Long announced that, at Cyber Sunday, Matt Hardy would defend the ECW Title against one of three opponents with the WWE fans selecting the challenger. Theodore Long automatically inserted Mark Henry as one of the three and ECW would host two qualifying matches to determine the other two options.
-In the first of two qualifiers, Evan Bourne defeated Chavo Guerrero to advance to Cyber Sunday. Bourne’s celebration was short-lived, as Mark Henry laid him out.
-In the final qualifier, Finlay utilized his son Hornswoggle and an assist by Cryme Tyme (who pulled both The Miz & Mike Knox under the ring to preserve Finlay’s opportunity to defeat one of their adversaries) to defeat John Morrison to advance to Cyber Sunday. After the match, Mark Henry laid Finlay out with the World’s Strongest Slam on the stage.

The 479’th edition of WWE SmackDown emanated from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV. Confirmed for the main event of the evening was Jeff Hardy Vs. Vladimir Kozlov for the First Time Ever. Also, the stipulation choices for Big Show Vs. The Undertaker were announced.

And In Other News…

-Big Show opened SmackDown and revealed the three match types the WWE Fans will vote on for Cyber Sunday when Big Show goes one-on-one with The Undertaker- a Knockout Match, an “I Quit” Match, or a Last Man Standing Match (voted for exclusively on WWE.com). Big Show then demonstrated the three choices by destroying three unknowns in each match type.

-In a Divas Las Vegas Match, Maria defeated Maryse, Natalya, Brie Bella, & Victoria by grabbing the fuzzy dice to become the #1 Contender for the Divas Title.
-Jesse & Festus defeated the team of Kenny Dykstra & Ryan Braddock.
-In the main event of the evening, The Undefeated Moscow Mauler was able to defeat The Charismatic Enigma Jeff Hardy in their first match against each other. After the match, WWE Champion Triple H & Vladimir Kozlov stared each other down in the ring.
-The main event for next week’s SmackDown will be an epic (non-title) encounter between WWE Champion Triple H & The Undertaker.
