It’s been made official by WWE.com- The Miz & John Morrison are the new World Tag Team Champions after they defeated CM Punk & Kofi Kingston last night in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada at a WWE Live Event. Miz & Morrison are ECW Superstars and will remain that way, but since RAW & ECW now tape on the same night and the talent can appear on either brand, Miz & Morrison will be defending the gold on RAW & ECW against both rosters. On SmackDown in November of 2007, Miz & Morrison defeated MVP & Matt Hardy to win the WWE Tag Team Titles and then immediately defended the gold against the same team. They would hold the championships until July of this year at The Great American Bash when they lost the titles in a Fatal 4-Way Match when Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder won the belts without the champions even being pinned. At the 2008 Slammy Awards, Miz & Morrison picked up two awards- 2008 Tag Team of the Year and 2008 WWE.com Exclusive of the Year for "The Dirt Sheet". CM Punk is set to face Rey Mysterio at Armageddon tonight in the Finals of a tournament to decide the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title held by William Regal. WWE taking the titles off of Punk & Kofi may be a sign of Punk winning the Intercontinental Title, but that is pure speculation.
