CBlog #52- WWE Royal Rumble Predictions, Raw Guest Hosts and WrestleMania 26

Hello and welcome to the 52nd installment of the CBlog. Believe it or not, it has been almost two months since my last blog, so there is a lot of ground to cover to say the least.

In this edition of the CBlog, I will be lending my predictions for this year’s Royal Rumble event, as well as my thoughts on Bret Hart’s return to the WWE, Sheamus’ reign as the WWE Champion, upcoming Guest Hosts of RAW, WrestleMania, and more.

Well, I will start with one of my personal favorite events of the year, the Royal Rumble. As of this blog, twenty-four participants have been announced for the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match. Originally, I predicted that CM Punk would be the winner of the 2010 Royal Rumble Match, but after it occurred to me that Shawn Michaels could win the Rumble and challenge The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Title, it made me question my prediction. After this past Monday’s RAW, I am predicting Shawn Michaels to win his third Royal Rumble Match (the second Superstar to do so after Stone Cold Steve Austin) and “force” a WrestleMania Rematch against The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Title.

With rumors of some teams being split up come this year’s Draft, I can see Shawn Michaels being drafted to SmackDown and continuing the feud with The Undertaker.

Also at the Royal Rumble, Sheamus will defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton. I doubt I am the only one, but I have been disappointed with Sheamus’ reign as WWE Champion. I believe that it would help quite a bit if they actually booked him like he is the WWE Champion instead of having DX main event RAW every week. I get the vibe that there is a lot of second guessing behind-the-scenes at the WWE regarding the title reign as well, which is why I predict that Randy Orton will win the WWE Title at the Royal Rumble. I think it is a high possibility that Ted DiBiase will challenge Orton at WrestleMania for the WWE Title.
The Undertaker will defend the World Heavyweight Title against Rey Mysterio at the Rumble. As my earlier prediction eludes to, I see Undertaker retaining the title at the Rumble.

In the ECW Championship Match where Christian defends against Ezekiel Jackson, I see Christian retaining.

I also see Mickie James beating Michelle McCool for the Women’s Title (yes, that title still exists).

I am really looking forward to the surprise entrants in the Royal Rumble Match. It seems that Rob Van Dam’s surprise participation is becoming an annual thing. Unfortunately, it looks like Booker T will not be taking part in the Rumble Match, though I do not think a one-night surprise appearance is out of the question. I do predict that Edge will make his return during the Rumble Match and eliminate Chris Jericho, thus setting up an Edge/Jericho match at WrestleMania. To take that prediction a bit further, I see an Edge & Christian reunion by year’s end.

Bret Hart’s return to the WWE was something I was, apparently, expecting more out of. I still think it could have been done a lot better, but if I were to discuss every mistake that the WWE makes, this blog would never end.
I hope that, if or when Bret appears again to continue the feud with Vince, that the build up will be better than the initial confrontation upon his return.

The natural segue here is to the recent and future Guest Hosts of RAW. Some Guest Hosts have been hits, some misses, and some wild swings where the bat flies out of your hands and lands in a pile of crap. The most recent co-hosts, Jon Heder & Don Johnson, were just bad. I expect James Roday & Dule Hill’s night as co-hosts to be even worse, seeing as very few people know or care who they are. I personally believe that USA Network pushed and pushed WWE to have the stars of “Psych” and, somewhere along there, WWE decided to do it, but only if John Cena has a guest role on “Psych”.

William Shatner will Guest Host RAW on February 1. To me, Shatner is a step beyond a has-been.

February 8 will have NASCAR driver Carl Edwards as the Guest Host. I hate NASCAR and it is an insult that NASCAR is referred to as a “sport”. It does not require any sort of physical ability whatsoever.

February 15 will have Jerry Springer as the Guest Host. For me, and like most of the guests on “The Jerry Springer Show”, this could go either way. This is one of those Guest Hosts that make you stop and think, “WWE is going for a PG rating, right?”

To take that question further, Cheech & Chong will serve as co-hosts on March 1. Like I said on my Twitter account (@Wrestling101com), “nothing says PG like pot jokes”.

Despite those questionable Guest Hosts, I am very much looking forward to the March 15 Guest Host of RAW, which will be Stone Cold Steve Austin. That RAW should definitely be interesting; especially considering how close that is to WrestleMania.

I also wanted to briefly discuss DX. Putting Hornswoggle with DX has ruined that team for me. Hornswoggle just needs to drop off of the face of the earth. I am keeping my fingers crossed for DX to be split up to RAW & SmackDown, but then again, that will not make a difference if they are the Unified WWE Tag Team Champions.Well, that is it for the 52nd edition of the CBlog. Hope you enjoyed it and make sure to follow me on Twitter.

I also have a Facebook page here.

Make sure to read the upcoming Wrestling101.com interview with the recently released Eric Escobar, as well as the newest blog posts by Sinn Bodhi (AKA Kizarny).I can not make a definite guarantee as to when I will post my next blog, so just keep an eye out for it.

Peace out!
