Wrestling 101With all the festivities firmly behind us, the realism of a new year sinks in. Many of you have probably already passed up on your New Year resolutions, others may last the distance. 2004 is a new year and one that needs to be grasped with both hands.
Welcome one and all once again to the weekly delve in to the UK Scene. Now this week I have my first big exclusive of 2004 which is good news for the British Wrestling scene so this year I only waited two weeks before giving you a scoop because I am so kind to you guys this year. All of this plus the news making the headlines this week including my annoyance with X-Wrestling, news on the live events planned by NWA-UK this year and much more so sit back relax and most importantly hopefully enjoy.
I have taken some interest as to what X Wrestling have been up to recently. They have announced around 20 American names as I am sure most people will know, but the confusing thing to me is why a promoter, who has previous bad history would jump on to an idea so outrageous on literally his first day back on the job?
What better way to start my new Future-Shock Column, in a new home, ringing in the New Year? 2004 is Indeed upon us and is always the case, we begin to ponder the year ahead, and evaluate the year that was.
It’s a new year and yes you guessed it the column is back as good as ever after a very small absence to take in the festivities of the Christmas period. So what am I going to talk about this week I hear you cry? Well we have the formal announcements of the Wrestling101 / Talk Wrestling Online 2003 UK Scene awards, all the news on yet more new promotions causing a stir, the current state of the WAW title scene and much more besides so put back the tasks like adding another hole to your belt and enjoy reading this weeks UK Scene.
Christmas week is now upon us. A normally quiet time for the UK Scene as people recharge the batteries in order to be fresh for the upcoming year and in order to lay plans for the year ahead. This week though it has been busier than usual with lots of interesting news to talk about as well as lots of site updates to keep you informed about.
I must say it’s great to be a part of Wrestling 101 and will endeavour to provide a weekly column that’s going to feature not the ramblings from a know it all, in a lonely bedroom, but inside knowledge of a sport you come on here to learn about. I am coming to you from the perspective of not just writing what I think to be true, but rather what I have reasoned to be true through blood, sweat and yes, literally tears gained on this world we call pro wrestling.
We enter a new era today as the column goes over the 100 mark. Since the interview Pabster did with myself last week to celebrate the 100th column I have been in contact with many guys involved in the UK Scene and they have all left me some very nice messages which I will share with you in the column. You will also get all of this along with me bringing you up to date with the latest news as well as me exclusively revealing another new columnist to join Wrestling 101’s UK Scene.
Adam Sibley’s UKScene column on Wrestling 101 reaches it’s 100th edition this week. I sat down with Mr Sibley and asked him everything, for example what he has for breakfast, what’s his favourite colour…no I didn’t go that far but I did ask some questions and he answered them, and that’s what you call an interview. Here goes…
It’s now time for the one before the big one as column number 99 is ready to be unleashed. In the build up to the big 100 I expect everyone to arrange a party bring a cake, presents and wear party hats, no only kidding although cake does sound good. Even though it is this close to reaching the triple digit mark I will still and give you the most level headed comprehensive coverage of UK Scene news and happenings this week.
