Well, hello. And welcome to the first post holiday edition of The Live Wire. Is it good to be back? Hello no! I could still be drinking Guinness in Dublin right now! Damn holidays for having to end! Damn them to hell and back! But on a calmer note, I did catch up with most of the wrestling bits and bobs that I missed, and it turns out I didn’t miss much at all. Ho hum. But, with this being the PPV weekend of the month, you know what that means – it’s PREDICTION TIME!!!

As women’s wrestling continues to grow, promoters frantically search for combinations of ability and good looks. Lexie Fyfe is one of those women who possesses both of these qualities, as she takes the US Indy scene by storm. She’s toured the US, flown over to wrestle in the UK and now (very kindly) granted an interview. So sit back and enjoy.
A lot of children grow up wanting to be wrestlers, just like their heroes. But some also want to grow up to be a ring announcer. As with wrestlers, some have “it”, and others don’t, and Justin/Jason Roberts certainly has “it”. His resume is very impressive, and he’s only 22. I managed to catch up with him for a few words.
Colt Cabana is a US Independent star making a name for himself, only three and a half years after making his pro debut. I was lucky enough to catch up with the rising star and ask him a few questions. Hope you enjoy.
Curt Hennig’s sudden departure is one of a recent long-line of passings of many well-known pro wrestlers, as well as not-so-known names. While the passing of such names as Lou Thesz and Wahoo McDaniel will not be met with as much shock, due to their respective ages, the likes of Dave Smith (the British Bulldog), Terry Gordy and Tom Petty (Rocco Rock) all died relatively young, and in good health. This disturbing trend, it seems, shows no signs of letting up.

This week I managed to catch up with one of Wrestling’s forgotten figures Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. Most of the kids of my era grew up watching him in the WWF during the 80s and early 90’s. Bobby at the time was one of the big name managers and commentators. Since his time in the WWF he worked for WCW during its boom period and then most recently was involved in XWF and WOW. Bobby didn’t have long so it as only a quick interview but nether the less makes for some interesting reading.
